The American Eagle

EagleFlight

The American Eagle: Southern Religious Telegraph

Bird of the cliff! thou art soaring on high;
Thou hast swept the dense cloud from thy path in the sky;
Thou hast breasted the storm in thy heavenward flight,
And fix’d thy bright eye on the fountain of light;
Thou hast braved the keen flash of the lightning in sport,
And poised thy strong wing where the thunders resort;
Thou hast follow’d the stars in their pathways above,
And chased the wild meteors wherever they rove.

Bird of the forest! thou lov’st the deep shade,
Where the oak spreads its boughs in the mountain and glade;
Where the thick-cluster’d ivy encircles the pine.
And the proud elm is wreathed by the close-clinging vine;
Thou hast tasted the dew of the untrodden plain,
And follow’d the streams as they roll to the main;
Thou hast dipp’d thy swift wing in the feathery spray,
Where the earth-quaking cataract roars on its way.

Bird of the sky! thou hast sail’d on the cloud,
Where the battle raged fierce, and the cannon roared loud;
Thou hast stoop’d to the earth when the foeman was slain.
And waved thy wide wing o’er the blood-sprinkled plain;
Thou hast soared where the banner of freedom is borne;
Thou hast gazed at the far dreaded lion m scorn,
Thy beak has been wet in the blood of our foes,
When the home of the brave has been left to repose.

Bird of the clime in which liberty dwells,
Nurse the free soul in thy cliff-shelter’d dells!
Hover above the strong heart in its pride,
Whisper of those who for freedom have died!

Bear up the free-nurtured spirit of man,
Till it soar, like thine own, through its earth-bounded span
Waft it above, o’er the mountain and wave —
Spread thy free wing o’er the patriot’s grave!

My Poem (read after The Love Light)

My Poem

Celtic Woman – The Voice

Celtic Woman – A New Journey – The Prayer

God and Jesus, I thank you,
For your mercy and your grace,
I worship and I praise you,
For everything you’ve done,
And I thank you for these poems.
You’re both so great and kind,
That in this wretched heart of mine,
A dwelling place you’d find.
You’re both so generous, Wondrous,
Glorious and sweet.
It’s more than I can see or know,
Just what in me is worth,
The love and attention you both show,
That love for which I thirst.
And for so very long I searched.
I had not the smallest knowledge,
It was with me all my life,
I’m sorry that I took so long to see,
That you both are here with me.
You stood by my side through the years,
I gave you so much strife.
Yet with love you both forgave me,
When I came to you in tears.
I will always be so very, very grateful,
For your love and tenderness that I feel within,
And for the joy you gave me,
When you took away my sin.
For that grace and mercy,
I want to give my all,
Please help me not to murmur or complain,
Please also forgive me when I fall.
Help me be aware,
For me the lamb was slain,
Please help me not to do a thing,
To cause him shame or pain.
And in my struggles, help me fight,
To always choose the right.
Now for you I live each day,
Please hear my humble cry,
In this my heart I pray, Amen.

The Love Light

The Love Light

The Love Light Always Beams,
From The Lord Above,
Through Endless Ages It Still Streams
And Falls Into Our Hearts, With The Gentleness Of A Dove.
How Sweet And Glorious To Know,
That Jesus Christ Is Real,
Heaven Sent From God Above,
That God’s Love ,We Could Always Feel.
So We Who Were Lost In Sin,
Could Find The Light That Comes From The Love,
And Feel The Love That Comes Only When,
God’s Own Son Graces Our Hearts Within,
A Savior To The World.
One Who Understands Us All,
As No One Ever Could,
Who Understands The Things We Feel,
And Lifts Us When We Fall.
Who Promised In His Word,
With Us He’d Always Be,
Till The End Of Time,
Someday His Blessed Face To See.
His Sweet Holy Spirit Inside Of You And Me,
To Be Both Yours And Mine,
To Have His Glorious Fellowship,
So Holy And So Sweet,
To Feel His Presence In Our Hearts,
That Fellowship Divine.
How Comforting To Know,
We Will Someday Also Meet,
In Heaven With Him, Those We Love Before Us Gone,
With The Guidance Of His Light,
The Light Of The World His Son,
The Precious Lamb Of God.
And By His Spirit Feel The Love,
That Wondrous And Glorious Love Of God,
Brought Here To Us From Above,
For In His Word It Is Written Of Him,
That God Is Love,
And From That Love,
Light Beams Always,
Forever On And On.
Brought To Me This Night, March 27, 1995,
From The Father’s Love, And Jesus’ Light You See,
That Beams Always, From God The Lord Above.
